Enjoyable and thoughtful Poems about the Christian Life.

LION CUBS

The man who plays with lion cubs
And pets them on his knee,
Who lets them roam around his home
    In careless company,
That man may take it as a fact--
    Do anything he can--
Those lions, in some distant day,
    May slay the foolish man.

And so it is with other things,
    With common men, or great,
In every avenue of trade,
In things of church, or state:
The little sins we leave alive
    And think we can control
May rise to slay us in the end,
    To eat our very soul.
